If you missed it, yesterday was World Water Day, established by the United Nations over 15 years ago to focus attention on the obvious need - and problems - of getting clean water to people. In the U.S. , the advocacy group Corporate Accountability International is using the day to tell people to stop buying bottled water. You should have heard the reasons by now: Bottled water isn't better than tap water. The plastic bottles often aren't recycled. It's a waste of money. Corporate Accountability doesn't want anyone drinking bottled water but finds it particularly appalling that taxpayer's dollars are flowing toward that industry as towns and cities buy bottled waters for employees. The issue gained so much traction in Cambridge, city officials stopped buying bottled water and now let employees drink tap water.
