Water
We are facing a global water crisis where more than two-thirds of the world’s population will soon lack access to enough clean, drinking water. At the same time, corporations like Coke, Nestlé and Suez are turning water from a public resource into a profit-driven commodity. Think Outside the Bottle and our international work aims to reverse this trend and challenge transnationals who are contributing to the crisis.
Tobacco
Giant tobacco corporations like Philip Morris/Altria, British American Tobacco, and Japan Tobacco International are aggressively attempting to undermine the global tobacco treaty adopted by the World Health Assembly in 2003. We work with allies in the US and globally to ensure the treaty is enforced, and urge countries to ratify so more lives will be saved.
Food
From seed to plate, transnational food corporations are responsible for a multitude of abuses that threaten our environment, our food security and our overall well-being. As fast food purveyors McDonalds, Burger King and KFC expand into new markets worldwide, the rates of preventable diet-related illnesses continue to balloon. With tactics, such as irresponsible marketing to children and funding junk science, these corporations are driving this reversible health crisis. We are challenging the fast food industry to stop making people sick.
